Town or City for you?

I guess I could house a large staff in my mansion, but I'm not a guy who is used to seeing servants milling around my home. The description of heaven is a product of the culture, like just about everything in the bible.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

Yeah.

I admit, being an aviation buff, I have dreamt lately of living in an airpark, which is where homes have their own hangar. So I could stash a Cessna 172 and/or a HondaJet over there, and maybe a Ford Tock and Subaru wagon in my normal garage. And maybe have a two/three bedroom house with a pool (I don't swim, though) That lifestyle does take millions. At least a few, anyway.

But only because I like planes and some airparks are just really pretty.

Born in a suburb of Dallas. I lived most of my life in the city, including cities of eight million, four million, and half-a-million.

I live out in the country now -- the nearest store is five miles from my front door -- and I love it. I will never live in the city again.

Damn, I have no car and it would be a bitch to do the morning shop for me. 5 miles walk there and back just to put the electric on and get a loaf of bread? Fuck.

Oh, the close store is just a convenience store. The nearest decent market is fourteen miles from here.

Rural town. Large geographical footprint, not a ton of people. Lots of trees. A fair amount of deer. A pack of coyotes lives around here. It's uncommon but not rare to see a bear, moose, or bobcat.

It's... okay. I'm not an outdoorsy person, and there are too many trees. It looks pretty during peak foliage and early winter, but there's not much of a view due to the trees. Everything is a drive away, and there are no sidewalks. So, I can't just go for a spin in my chair anywhere. It's not really an ideal situation for a disabled person.

That said, it's still far better than a city. Cities are too crowded, too busy, too convoluted (at least, New England cities are since there really wasn't a thing called 'city planning' as they sprung up), too smelly, too claustrophobic. I hate going to Boston, Manchester, even Portsmouth. I'm very picky about personal space and introverted. Actually dealing with multiple people at once is literally exhausting for me, so cities are innately uncomfortable for me. I'll go if I have to, but I won't find much enjoyment in it.

Out in the boondocks, basically, is where I was raised. The only consolation was when I reached puberty I could appreciate the tight wrangler jeans that the guys wore. They had great asses.

Where you born, raised?

Raised in a village of 500, but with a town of 35k just a 20 minute drive away. On this 20 min drive, one passes through three more entirely separate villages of similar size. Europe is just very different from the US Smile
Right now it is a 12k town which is basically a suburb of a 150k city, and that's a nice compromise between a calm relatively rural life and the benefits of jobs, services and culture.
