Boru

Yeah, me too. I often meet my father in my dreams.

I almost always have fucked up nightmares (or else I just don't remember the pleasant dreams).

3 are frequently reoccurring since as far back as I can remember (so probably 3/4 years old). One is of 6-8 short, hooded beings (kinda look like the Jawas out of Star Wars) taking me from my bed, sometimes doing things to me like cutting me open or hanging me upside down and then always putting me under the floor before I wake up.. Another one is being in a bank building that is sinking into the sand and trying desperately not to choke on the sand as I sink. Sometimes giant lobsters come into play. The other one I have that has been reoccurring for as long as I can remember is of black and white striped Kachinas cutting out my organs late at night in a dusty, dirt fair parking lot.

WTF brain? Why can't I have cool dreams instead of weird and scary ones?

I had a dream last night that a nuclear bomb exploded a few miles from my place. I then went around trying to get to a high vantage point, to see exactly where the detonation had come from.
In the same night I dreamed I went to see The Force Awakens, and it was really, really weird and totally different to what anyone expected.

I'm paralyzed and spiders the size of dinner plates eat my eyes.

I've had floating sharks hunt me through buildings several times, (and that was 20 years before Sharknado!). I've had incredibly elaborate dreams about waterparks with intricate maze-like systems of waterslides. Lots of academic anxiety dreams of various kinds (I find out that I forgot to visit a bunch of classes that I can never make up for and my diploma is void, or it is 10 minutes before a concert and I neither know the piece, nor am I even able to play the Instrument in question. Or I am late for an exam and still in a strange city, can't find the train station/terminal ). A recurring scheme is that I find myself in a social setting with no pants and only a Tshirt. A strange kind of impotence is reflected in this dream which has appeared several times: I am supposed to be able to.fly, but can't quite manage to get off the ground. In the dream I start wondering whether it was just an illusion all along. Eat that, psychoanalysts.

Another remarkable decades-old recurring scheme for me is this: I go up the elevator in an incredibly high sky scraper and end up on an unthinkably high populated floor which however shakes in the wind at such an angle that I am forced to lie flat on the floor and don't dare stand up, afraid to fall off or for the building to crash.

Thanks for the dreams guys! Very interesting.

I've repeatedly had a dream where I go back and study for qualifications I already have. Not go back in time, just repeating them. I always get really stressed and fed up, and eventually realize how pointless it is and want to stop. I'm always running around late and confused as well, the building I'm in keeps getting more complex.

Latest surveys suggest that eating pizza with no meat on it can cause similar type nightmares... It's a guilt thing!

RE: Share your dreams/nightmares
I don't often remember my dreams. I used to dream of a skull that slowly came towards me from the inky blackness, its features barely visible. I had no body. I couldn't move, I couldn't scream. By all definitions I didn't exist but its cold gaze could see me. It got closer, inexorably closer. Its voice rasping through the dark; "Die. Die. Die." It wasn't a threat so much as it was a statement. There was no escape. It was coming. That dream recurred alot in my childhood. One theory I have is that it was my subconscious trying to reject the lie that death isn't the end. When I eventually accepted it was the dreams stopped.

These days I'm told I sleep rage although I never remember what about.
I say things like "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?" and "DON'T YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN!!!"
Repressed anger perhaps? Getting a punching bag soon so hopefully that should take care of it.
