When one has to rely upon the bible for real life, one has already failed. Fiction is in no a way substitute for human living and living humanely.

No... common sense is also a factor.

Common sense informs one that the bible is fiction, in the same way that children eventually learn that fairy tales, such as Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, are fiction.

God is nothing more than a fairy tale for adults.

You clearly didn't read my post, which started this whole little exchange, in which I questioned why the Christians aren't banging down my door, so to speak, because I'm a heterosexual, unmarried fornicator, while they're gleefully harassing gay people all over the place, since there are quite a few more regulations against my behavior than theirs.

As for why get personal, I have many, many friends who are gay, and I have heard their stories of a lifetime of harassment from Christians, and the permanent fear in which they must live their lives because they are so often attacked physically, and don't know which of you will finally take the "kill the gays" Bible verses a little too seriously.

So yeah, I take it personally when you start talking about them as perverts.
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

If walking on water were natural, then why hasn't anyone else done it? Same with turning water into wine, or coming back from the dead. These things aren't natural. That's a simple fact.

I will listen and respond to intelligent exchanges about God existence. W/o hard evidence we both stand on opinion and experience. But, don't worry... I won't resort to tired cliches and ridicule to make my points to you. i didn't fall off the fundi wagon riding by this dump.

You're still riding it, honey.

There is no evidence for the existence of any fantastical things created by fiction, but one is not going to place one's faith in the existence of something on the mere chance that it might exist, unless of course one is absolutely prone to delusion.

A brief, but relevant post of mine, copied from a previous thread:

And please, kindly remember...

The rules and directives for living, prayer, etc. that are specific to Christianity, only apply to those that adhere to
the religion. No one else cares.

Sorry, I didn't read your exchanges. But, for the record... i don't go around beating up gays, or even yelling insults and threats. Actually, I have a gay daughter that I love very much. And I have several gay friends that I am in touch with constantly. They know where I stand on gay marriage. We each have had "the" conversation. My daughter knows I love her and would do just about anything for her... except go to her wedding. i told her I can't go against my belief. She, and my other friends accept that from me, but not my belief. As I accept them, but not their lifestyle. End of story.

As for other Catholics? I've never, ever witnessed any do any harm, in any way to a gay person! My daughter, or any other friends of mine. Actually, I've never witnessed it in my lifetime. At least not from a declared Christian. And my hometown is not a white suburb dreamscape!

... or have actually experienced God through Faith! But what would you know about that?
