Why atheism?

As did I.

The question doesn't exactly keep me awake at night. That's about how much thought I've given to what my hopes are with respect to what is extant.

All questions were answered by many members, several times.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Atheism is not a dogmatic position.

If you were actually reading all the responses to your posts, you would notice a pretty common theme. And that is, that we are atheists because we are unconvinced by the arguments put forth by theists that a god exists.

If we were convinced, then we wouldn't be atheists.

I get the impression that you do not understand how basic logic and critical thinking work.

I get the impression that you don't understand the meaning of my opening post. You must make a choice to believe in God simon moon. You ask that question to anyone in the world and you will discover that it is quite simply true.

And abundantly obvious. But simple minded atheists would never understand it.

And a christian would never- and I do mean ever- stoop so low as to prove to you that there is a God.

Wow. That's quite a statement. You should probably tell that to the many, many Christian regulars we have on the board. Poes aren't exactly known for being intellectually honest, though, so I doubt you'll look further into it.

I choose to not believe in the gods presented to me so far because they're a bunch of vague, self-contradictory figures that have no corroborating tangible evidence to support them. That does not mean that I think a god cannot exist, just that if there is one, it's likely far different than what the major religions here think.

In any event, it's not worth wasting the time to worry about it let alone worship it.

But, to be honest, the amusement factor here has reached 0 so I'm gonna stop playing.

Why are you imputing to me views when I haven't opined one way or the other? I've said why I'm an atheist, but said nothing at all about choice. And further to that, I feel no obligation to explain anything to you, given your obvious disingenuousness. You'll have to jack off without my help, Scrub.

While you're taking that logic class, enroll in a remedial reading class too. You clearly need it.

And yes, I'm being a condescending prick to you. I make change in the coin tendered. So long as you maintain a patronizing tone, you won't get one iota of respect from me.

(Also, I don't believe you're who you say you are. And no, I won't tell you why.)

Killingsworth just seems so obviously fake. Either that, or he's seriously some rich boy playing here out of boredom.
