When you consider how long we have been musing about the universe and compare it to how long it has existed, I'd say the leaps and gains in knowledge we've made have been utterly astonishing.
I'm confident that yes, eventually we will have an interlocking set of hypotheses so tight it will form a grand Theory of Everything. It's only a matter of time.

Scientists know all these answers already.
But if they let us know that, they'd all be out of a job as there's nothing left to learn. They're not dumb. We'll get the next trickle of information in 20 years or so.

I think we can know, but we don't yet know how to know.
I'll come back to this some time when it's not 4:37 am.

I don't think it will be long before we figure out the origins of this universe. The strongest hypothesises out there do provide ways to test and verify them and scientists are trying to do that slowly with the LHC and such.

OK, let's say we find out.
We work out how abiogenesis works and also how the universe was created.
What will this change?
Religion? Meh, it's dying out from it's own stupidity anyway?
The answer is bound to be a technical one, not a religious one anyway, so why the big deal?

I agree, I doubt it is of any real consequence except curiosity.
Who knows, maybe it will indirectly help us understand reality in general and provide some benefits.
