A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost
I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love. And a 50-48 split really isn't that great of a difference between Dems and Reps either. The overwhelming majority of atheists are glad when churches focus their efforts on helping people. It's a basic value of Secular Humanism. We don't know that they were Christians, of course... but if you think otherwise, you've A) never met a Christian southern Democrat, since you seem to find the 48/50 split significant in terms of atheism, and 2) you've never met a southern Christian, holy until it concerns their bottom line.

It's not like there isn't a history of one christian denomination being against something a different denomination does. Or even within the same denomination.
Poe's Law: "Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."
10 Christ-like figures that predate Jesus. Link shortened to Chris ate Jesus for some reason... http://listverse.com/2009/04/13/10-chris...ate-jesus/ Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88GTUXvp-50 A list of biblical contradictions from the infallible word of Yahweh. http://infidels.org/library/modern/jim_m...tions.html
In an area where atheists are rare you oh-so-desperately want to believe that they are the ones bitching about these fucking do-gooders, Lek. You are pathetic.
Faced it son. If your hippy jesus showed up today in Texas with his pacifist, socialist, anti-rich, message they'd string the fucker up. You could wear a little noose around your neck going forward. Ain't no way Republicunt Jesus is going to tolerate that shit.
RocketSurgeon, I think you're really oversimplifying the issue. I work for a not-for-profit that provides housing, employment and medical assistance to the mentally ill. There's a right way to do things and a wrong way. Just taking in people because it feels good isn't always helpful to them or wise. There could be code issues about housing transient populations in R1 districts, not unlike having a dry-cleaner or liquor store on the block. Your anti-Christian bias is really disappointing. Do you really hate us that much to use one families objection about large numbers of people loitering, smoking, and acting strange and/or threatening next door and use that as an excuse to paint all Christians as hard-hearted hypocrites.
Read the article, Chad. You mis-stated almost every single point it makes.

According to the video, Chad, there are no further permits necessary in order to use the church as a shelter; that is apparently part of the church's original permit.
As for Christian hypocrisy, it's a shame it isn't just one family. Christian hypocrisy is just as prevalent as hypocrisy from any other group of people, and it's fair game to point that out.
But when xtians get caught acting like cunts they just say "I'm sorry, pappy jesus" and pappy jesus forgives them....until the next time they act like cunts.
Then he forgives them again. (Jesus seems amazingly stupid!) |
