Depends on what they did.

I'm tired of seeing stories of kids who commit serious crimes but get minor punishments because of their age.

If you commit a crime like murder or rape or whatever, then they should be tried as adults.

As with so much of the so-called American Criminal Justice system how cases are handled tends to be determined far more by who you are than what you did.

I didn't have an hour to spend watching it.

Suffice it to say that on this issue we agree.

If someone does something serious enough, they need to get a serious punishment. Especially since when a kid does something messed up, it's a sign that s/he is a sociopath who's not going to just get better after growing up a bit.

Though like everything else, it really depends on the circumstances.

I disagree with people arguing that only some crimes should grant trial as adult - Either you're trialed as an adult for ALL Crimes or you're trialed as a child/adolescent and given proper measures. I think most people forget that most punishment methods against minors involves a correction facility and in many ways it is as bad as a prison and limits your freedom. As a general rule, I think between 15-16 years old is fine to be trialed as an adult. The main argument to support less bad punishment for minors and young adults, as I learned in class, is that the younger someone is, specially highly influenciable people like teens, the easier it will be to rehabilitate them.

It rarely is, psycopaths account for a small percentage of the population so most crimes will not be committed due to psycopathic nature, even if psycopaths commit more crimes as a demographic.

Are you a psychologist or psychiatrist? If not could you please provide a reference for that statement?

Tormenting animals as children is a sign of sociopathy. Not a guarantee, but a sign. So if you're doing the same to other children, or something worse, wouldn't that be a bigger red flag? Usually if some kid is getting tried as an adult, it's because they did something that would get the adult more than a few years in prison or a big fine.
