Generally it is the low quality of intellect exhibited by believers. You'd think 'god' would be a better recruiter.
He lets his followers do that with most of the tactics of Tony Soprano's thugs, while he sits back and does the usual.

I've got a spare an atheist if you want it. It was marked down because it was spelled an athiest.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Most people in this country are raised with a belief in God and come to a point in their life whether they accept it anymore or not. If not, it is rejected. If you do not like the termonology, thats for you.
Your post I was responding to said nothing about rejecting 'the concept of god". It said 'reject God'.
I don't 'reject god' because that would presuppose that said god actually existed.
I do reject the concept god' because every theist that has ever provided me with their god beliefs, is unable to provide evidence, or even a coherent definition.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

What mostly drives me to atheism is godists who type 'your' when it should be 'you're'.

Just got back online. I read the posts, and see I made a mistake. I do not believe athiests hate God. I should have said a parent would not doom their child if they did not believe in them. Did not want the post to go in that direction. As I said, I am not an atheist basher, but i'm sure you guys get a lot of it, so I understand the defensiveness. I did say I believe you reject God, and I was corrected as to say ''The concept of God'', also, some say they were born atheists, which is a new thought for me. Thats why I started this post, the 3 athiests I talk to seem to be pissed off at God, and I knew there was something more. I still believe God does not care if you believe in him or not. And the lack of evidence is so we can determine our lives in a way that would not be possible otherwise. Once again, I did not say anything about evolution, holy books, or whatever else most of you guys are used to hearing.

Hello and welcome to the forums.
Technically I've not rejected God as I've never been approached by him. I know there are many who believe who like us all to join them in that. But I don't hand out my belief just to be friendly. To believe something, for me, is to believe that it is true. To want something to be true, I'd say I "wish it were true", not "believe it was true". But I neither want for there to be a god nor have any good reason to believe that there is a god. So yep. Guess that makes me what you call an atheist. I just call it being a human being without supernatural beliefs. Whatever.

Fine. "God" doesn’t care if we believe in it, and I don't care if it exists. What are we talking about again?

Not believing is the default position.
Do you understand that concept?
Being driven to atheism is what happens when you're not driven to church and brainwashed....
Sad but true...
This is good, a lot of you have said this, but I like how this is worded. " Not believing is the default position". Now if only it can be said without the baggage of evolution following behind. I have a question, do you believe in evolution as a fallback to believe in something, as the National Acadamy of Sciences tells you to, or do you believe in evolution for the sake of evolution itself.'' Not believing is the default position'' can stand on its own. I think it would do atheism better to leave it out.

I applaud you making corrections in your perceptions. That is more than most theists that come here seem to be capable of. Even after being corrected many times, still claim we "hate god".
So, the the texts that depict the Christian god character and the Muslim god character make it clear that disbelief will lead to some sort of punishment by said gods. So, it would seem you do not believe in either of those gods. Do you mind informing us which god you do believe exists?
And more importantly, why are you convinced that this god exists? And why should we be convinced?
