RE: Catholics vs. Evangelicals?

From Wiki...
Quote:Evangelicalism ... is a worldwide, transdenominational movement within Protestant Christianity maintaining that the essence of the gospel consists in the doctrine of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ's atonement.
Evangelicals believe in the centrality of the conversion or "born again" experience in receiving salvation, in the authority of the Bible as God's revelation to humanity, and spreading the Christian message.
The parts in bold pretty much say it all. Evangelicals believe it's their duty to 'spread the word' and convert as many people as possible. Specific denominations are irrelevant; although, in my experience, baptists are particularly zealous.

^Yeah, that's what I thought. That's why I doubted the OP saying Evangelicals were one of the top 2 types of Christians in this country. I'm pretty sure most Christians are not Evangelical. I don't think I've ever met one, to be honest.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

I don't see much difference between the categories.
Outrageous scripture cherry picking slackers the lot of them.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

What is doubly sad is that the eldest daughter, Ashley,
the one whom Marguerite said was to blame for "not praying hard enough"
(even though Ashley said they prayed for Marguerite every day)
...died in a car crash in 2007.
She was 25, and left a young daughter behind.

Baptists, particularly converts will do that, along with getting personally offended at the statement that you aren't a believer.
Indeed the more virulent examples come across as hating the whole of existence.
