Your faith will be ridiculous for as long as you depend upon the notion.  Your call.  As to gods protection, I would be disappointed if allah actually was protecting islam....considering it's sorry state.........

The oldest version of the Quran (held in Germany) is identical to today's Quran. So yeah, I'll say it's a big miracle for it to be protected, with all of them clumsy Muslims around.

But didn't they find discrepancies between the Topkapi, Samerquand and San'na manuscripts? If textual variants are a problem for the Bible, as many from the Ummah claim, then, if we're consistent they should be a problem for the Quran also. Secondly, related, I'm always astonished that Allah did not protect previous scripture. Sounds incompetent to me. But the thing with these newer religions is you've always got to believe just one more 'prophet'.
