If I summarized the above point as "Deism makes more sense than any form of theism beyond that." would you find that to be a fair representation of it? RE: Old Style Evie/Why "gods" are bullshit.

I wonder how we'd determine which position, on the existence of fairies, makes more sense? Does the deist null value weigh more than the theist null value?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

OP - The usual but then *snip* we don't have free-will.*snip*
Atheists - Applaud. Eh, am I missing something? Do people applauding not believe they have free-will? Is that another delusion we got to get rid of? RE: Old Style Evie/Why "gods" are bullshit.

Does the deist null value weigh more than the theist null value? Technically I think they're one and the same null position. All deists are theists. But not all theists are deists.
In Psalm 82:6 (CEV) everyone is a god. “I, the Most High God, say that all of you are gods and also my own children."
The issue may be confusing because there is no invisible celestial deity. In the Bible the God character was the series of men who ruled the dominant empire in the Middle East area. All of the other kings and rulers were lesser gods. We are all gods of various kinds and with various powers. We all have the power to create and to destroy, to love and to forgive, to hate and to punish, to reward and to deny. Just because we lack the power to create a universe doesn't mean that we can't create other wonders. National rulers are our gods in name and in deed. Their actions decide whether we live or die. They send their angels (bureaucrats, police, military) after the evil people among us and against our foreign enemies who would destroy us. They protect and punish us and they may even forgive us. But although they have classic godly powers they are just humans like us, with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some are good, others are real scumbags. Some rule with rods of iron, others rule with golden words. Disobey them and you will find yourself in hell. I think that's a good summary, yes But I find even the word "deism" is loaded because it implies not just a creator, but a deity. What the difference is, I have no idea. But I doubt many people would call me a deity for creating artificial realities such as computer programs, which may somehow become sentient. I'm not sure exactly what the average deist thinks and whether it is more than just a creator. Feel free to send me a private message.
