If you have insurance, the prices generally aren't so bad (for prescriptions). Last month I got put on a medication for heartburn (30 pills) that CVS tried to charge me $80 for because apparently they didn't enter my insurance details correctly. After insurance it was $5.

Where the US healthcare system fails is with the big expenses like hospital visits, labs, specialists, etc. That's on top of what you are already paying each month just to have the insurance.

Bernie Sanders needs to be President so we can fix this shit once and for all.

I am pro modern medicine. I am not anti-big Pharma er say, just more anti the way they run them and price medicines (and release medicines not properly tested, or market them on TV to everyone, etc).

Like someone else said, you can have problems with the big pharmaceutical companies without being into woo, or against modern medicine.

Medicine should be socialized. The US spends way too goddamn much on defense and not enough on its own people.

Big pharma makes a ton of money in reality the medications themselves are fairly cheap to produce
yet they charge so much like the one guy who charged a arm and a leg for Aids/Hiv medication
he was a asshole. In reality it's all a money making scheme in the US outside of the US medication
is far cheaper in canda than it is here.

They aren't fairly cheap to produce. R&D is massively expensive.

Prices for medication aren't that bad in the UK, but in the end we are all slaves to big pharma one way or another...unfortunately.

I completely feel your pain.  I get em too.  And they ruin my life in fairly significant measure.

I was given Frova once and I will say that it more or less got rid of the migraine,
but made me into a total zombie.

I would NEVER try to operate a car while on that medication,
but it rendered me a bit useless for any other task, that requires concentration, too.

People have seen me do some strange-ass things trying to relieve migraines.

I've spent the night on the kitchen floor, in tears, with bags of frozen peas clutched to my head.

my personal worst-ever migraine experience, if anyone is interested (and don't feel obliged):

I had a nervous breakdown that began on New Year's 2011-2012.

Already being prone to migraines,
my breakdown began as my worst migraine ever,
(and it's not like I haven't had plenty of doozies in my time).

It made my pulse beat so loudly in my ears,
that I couldn't hear people in the same room, talking, over the "rushing noise";

the pressure in my head was so profound, that time,
that I was positive that I would start bleeding out of my ears, nose and eyes, at any moment
...and maybe it would have been better, if I had.

It lasted at that intensity for 10 days solid with no relief,
and then slowly backed off,
but it was a good two months before that particular headache conclusively departed.

in retrospect, i should have gone to the hospital,
but I was actually in too much pain by that time,
to even communicate coherently.

Things like intense unrelenting migraines, insomnia, inconsolable panic, or frequent hallucinations weigh on me until I become suicidal. I cannot face life without my meds. So evil greedy bastards that they just might be, I love big pharma always.
