I have had near death experiences before want to know what i seen?

of course you are going to hallucinate a god but it doesn't prove there is one.

Does heavy anesthesia with your heart stopped for hours count? Because all I got was lost time.

I think I mentioned this in the last NDE Thread, but I'll repeat it again.

I had a motorcycle accident a number of years ago and my heart was stopped for nearly two minutes.

What did I see? Nothing.

I do find it interesting, however, that those who have "experienced" NDEs always see the "afterlife" they are culturally conditioned to see. You never have a Muslim seeing the Christian afterlife, or a Hindu seeing the Muslim one. And if it's an atheist who "sees" one, then it's the Christian one in a culturally dominated Christian society and the Muslim one in a culturally dominated Muslim society.

I don't claim my non experience as a proof, anymore than I accept someone who had a "personal experience" as proof.

I've tripped balls during surgery while under ketamine sedation. Saw some amazing shit (including my own mother operating on me, which is more frightening than you'd think ). None of it made me think that some god was trying to show me anything. Indeed, it just solidified the notion that the brain can do some crazy shit if its chemistry is messed with. I don't see why a NDE would be special in that regard.

Besides - even deluded morons deserve some fun once in a while. And christians are masters at dealing with guilt and such. They just go into a magic closet with a man in a dress, murmur some nursery rhymes/magic spells and they can go straight to heaven. So no harm done. 

If you think ridicule and mockery of Christian notions is hostility towards Christians themselves, you're going to be confused. Most Christians are fine, decent people. It doesn't mean that they don't hold silly beliefs. If we're wrong about a belief being silly, that's an opportunity for you to explain how it's rational. If you can't do that, you should expect people to find the belief silly and should not expect for them to pretend to not find it silly in order to spare your feelings.

It doesn't mean we don't love you. I consider it a favor if someone demolishes my most cherished beliefs. If they can't stand up to scrutiny, I should give them up. I'm not talking about losing an argument: the person who is the loudest, or even the smartest, isn't always correct. But if I find that my reasons for believing something are built on sand, I at least need to go back to the drawing board on their foundation.

I understand that people who consider faith to be a virtue don't see the value of having their irrational beliefs chipped away at, even don't really see the need for their beliefs to be rational. That makes it harder to grock that criticism of your beliefs can come from a good-natured motivation. Here, if I say something that won't stand up to reasonable criticism, I don't expect my friends to go easy on me just because we have history. If they know me, they know I'd rather retract an ill-considered statement than stand by it.

I'm proud to say that I'm a Christian, that believes in Jesus. I grew up and was baptized Catholic. I've had a difficult life, and while planning my suicide, started researching what life was about, and found Jesus, which saved my life. I actually planed to lay my neck across a train track to decapitate myself by train to commit suicide. The night before, I started researching online what it would be like to die, and found near death experiences of people that had attempted suicide and had NDEs and were sent back with a message to share. I made a promise to Jesus that I would spread my knowledge of what I learned for saving my life.

I'm glad you decided not to go through with it. What denomination of Christian are you currently?

What the hell does "read the bible prayerfully" mean?

It's kind of like this. Pray before, after, and during your reading. In particular, if something strikes you as inconsistent or incoherent or immoral, that's when you REALLY pray. And remember that the Bible can't be wrong.
