You can't shake it off because you may not get into heaven if you do.
God doesn't live in our reality. You can't prove him here. Trust your instincts! Play it safe, go to church, be a good christian like CL. You can't go wrong... Don't stress over all the logical technicalities, all they'll do is turn you into a heathen. Catch.
