The first rule of Film Club is - you don't talk about Film Club.

Good idea. Has anyone seen the film, the Zeitgeist? I would think you all would find it pretty interesting. Takes a more atheist philosophical approach to the world, and exposes a lot of arguments against religion. Even I find it a super interesting film because it covers so many subjects.

Yes. It's just ideologically motivated bullsh*t, with no basis in any sort of facts. It may seem legit if you're a teenager, rebelling against your Mom, Dad and cartoon villains you perceive all authority figures to be - but most grow out of it. Some don't - and they just live in their mothers' basements, smoking weed, watching X-Files and obsessing over all the governmental conspiracies, stopping them from reaching their "true potential".

Have you constructed a conclusions mat and laid it out on your living room floor so you can have fun jumping to conclusions? This is an anti-religious film.

I know. But it also happens to be complete and utter bullsh*t. Just because I'm an atheist, doesn't mean I have to buy anti-religious propaganda.

So you've watched it?
I don't feel like arguing today. What would you suggest as a film to watch?

Yes, I have. Everybody and their mother watched it at the time. It was - you could say - spirit of the times... Get it?... Because "Zeitgeist" means... <sigh>... Never mind.
I also watched the sequels - they were a bit less bullsh*t, in that they didn't hide the fact that they were ideological propaganda pieces and didn't bring up conspiracy theory nonsense (as much). But the original movie was just pure gibberish, masquerading as documentary.

Does anyone like my suggestion? Are we watching Enemy or something else? I'm waiting for any kind of response so we might get started. I'll PM those who said liked the idea if they don't participate further - maybe they just forgot about it- once we start agreeing on what movie to watch.

Homeless, do you want us to watch Fight Club, per chance? I'm down with that, though I don't know that it would be a movie to everyone's taste, but that's ok. We're meant to go out of our comfort zones and discuss art. There's a lot to talk about in Fight Club. Not so much in action packed movies like James Bond, if you know what I mean.

I'm down to check out something new, and will leave my religious views out of it, just to have a discussion. So out of respect to your thread, i'll watch what you or someone else suggests. I have netflix and hulu streaming. I'd prefer to not have to go out and buy a film to watch, but if I can find a place to pay to stream it or available through redbox I'll give it a shot.
I've never seen the Circle. Seen fight club a few times.
