But I'm having a better experience this time. You're a gardener. I'll bet you're there to plant the seeds of reality for them in the hopes they'll grow when fertilised by all the bullshit there. Tell me I'm wrong? Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni: "You did WHAT? With WHO? WHERE???" I wonder what the record may be for the most nestled quotes? It is just them being lazy, they qoute have a book if given the chance. I have found it really difficult to debate the theist on that site. Most of the time the discussion stops whenever the discussion condenses to a very simple question. Most of the question are like: How do you know god did not command any give abortion? Usually you get something like: that is not in gods nature. And we need to point out that god does not have a problem with starving children to death or have them butchered by soldiers because of moral reasons he "might" have. Usually followed by: yes, but they deserved death because they are sinners. And yet again we need to point to original sin....and the aborted baby "might" deserve death....etc etc. It just does not end.
Honestly I'm as motivated by a desire to understand what positive role god belief plays in people's lives as I am to de-convert anyone. It has always struck me as overly glib to chalk it up to bad science.

It has always struck me as overly glib to chalk it up to bad science. For me it is not diffcult to understand how it can be positive in someone's life. I just fail to understand why people believe it. |
