Zero Motivation... how do you get through it?

RE: Zero Motivation... how do you get through it?
For home stuff I procrastinate.

For work things I prioritise.

For everything else, there's vodka.

Playing Cluedo with my mum while I was at Uni:

"You did WHAT?  With WHO?  WHERE???"

This has been around forever but there is much truth to it.

Quote:[b]I've recently been diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. (Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder) It manifests itself this way...

Last Saturday I decided to wash my car. As I pick up my car keys and start toward the garage I notice there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys down on the table, separate the junk mail from the bills, and put the junk mail in the trash can under the table. I see the trash can is full.

I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash but then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash, I may as well go ahead and pay the bills now.

I pick my checkbook up off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking earlier.

I pick up the Coke to move it aside so I don't accidentally knock it over and notice that it's getting warm, so I decide to put it in the refrigerator.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke a vase of flowers on the bookcase catches my eye--they need to be watered.

I set the Coke down on the bookcase, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set my glasses back down on the bookcase, fill a small watering can with water, and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs. But first I'll water the flowers.

As I go to water the flowers, I bump the bookcase and spill water on the floor.

So, I set the remote back down on the table, the watering can on the floor, and go get some paper towels and wipe up the spill.

Then I head down the hall to the trash can trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day; the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, I don't remember what I did with the car keys, and there's a small watering can sitting in the middle of the floor. Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem and I need to get some help for it, but first I need to check the forums.

@Rob - good ideas but the bar thing would cause more work Big Grin

@Paul - I needed to set up my husband's checking and saving accounts online, but couldn't finish it because he wasn't here to give me his driver's license number. He doesn't have a cell phone so I couldn't call him at work). That's finally done, now that he's home.
I'm still waiting to get my stupid refund from the IRS. I can't pay bills until I get that money, which I was supposed to get last Friday. The bills are a worry for me because until they are paid, I'm going to be thinking about them.
I need to get my notes for school finished. So far, this last curriculum, we have 23 pages of notes. I have three curriculum's worth of notes to print out still, but haven't because my printer needs ink. I have the ink cartridge, but because the printer is sitting under a mound of papers, I keep putting it off.
Gotta get laundry started but can't because I have asthma and going up and down two flights of steps knocks the wind out of me. I have to rely on other people in this house to make sure the laundry gets down to the basement so I can start it, but I shouldn't have to ask all the time because they KNOW I have asthma and can't carry the baskets.
I still have dishes to wash.
I need to balance the check book and re-do the budget.

Simple things. Yes. Lots more simple things to add to this list is what is making things overwhelming.

That and I think my husband gave me his stomach virus.

Oh My Fucking God. I read this to my husband, he sat there laughing and when I was done reading, he said:

"That's you! I'm sorry baby (laughing hard) That is out and out you!"

And he's still laughing and he's completely and 10000000% right. Holy shit. That is MY life!

I know I know - there's meds for that. I do take them. When I remember.

So I can now cross installing the new ink cartridge in the printer, off my list.

Adding to my list: headlight needs replacing in car.
Boys need the curtain put up in their room. (I've been after my hubby for over a month now, even bought the curtain rod and put it on his chair, hoping he'd get a clue.)
Make an appointment with the IRS to find out why they are nearly a week late with my money.

I don't think you have zero motivation.
But I think I know what the problem is,I think your life as of know you feel is boring and doesn't seem worth it to go through all the trouble to keep it working as it is or perhaps it feels like too much work right now?
My advice is to try out something new. Go to a new restaurant, make 3 new friends, try practicing yoga (if time allows for it,because I feel a lot of stress in you and perhaps yoga could help.).

I don't know if that helped,I wanted to post earlier itself but I had nothing to post about (until now), sorry for late reply though, stay strong!

Thanks Pool.

It's not so much that my life is boring. I've been in school for 6 1/2 months now and I'm nearing the end of pre-salon. Three weeks and I'll be headed to senior level and working on the school salon floor, tending to actual clients. I'm really looking forward to that next stage of my education and am carrying a 98.28% average in the academic portion of my studies.

And you're right. I am certainly stressed out. The kids, the bills, the car etc. My sleeping pattern sucks. Luckily, there is a new yoga studio that just moved in next door to school. $70 a month for unlimited sessions. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to go right now, but hopefully soon I can. I do think it would help reduce the stress some.

I think that until my husband and I can get the bills caught up, the stress will continue to be high. That's my biggest worry at the present moment.

You don't need motivation, you need a whip. With that you'll get the jobs done, every time you find something needs doing, go flay the husband until it gets done.
