Well I agree, I don't think there are any answers. Just excuses and rationalizations. Atheists tend to know way more about Christianity and the bible than Christians do; a Christian hasn't taught me anything I didn't already know since I started researching it.

Why would you want to speak to some asshole about the fucking bible in the first place?

It's lovely that the church is liberal and accepting. But the only reason they want you to talk to him is because they believe he has the knowledge to talk you out of your atheism. I would find that disrespectful, personally. But, if you LOVE debate, you might find it interesting.

Seems like it'd just be a waste of time, unless you're in the mood for debating. Even then, your having a chat with the pastor might get your parents' hopes up for no good reason.

Thanks for all of the input. I have nothing really to fear from anyone at this point. And Rob, just so you know, you'll be pleased to know that we all partial to the Green Party - so that's a sign of how sensible my immediate family is. I know you mentioned liking the Green Party too.

Maybe that's cynical of me, but I don't feel I will learn much I didn't already know. There are plenty of things I could chose to discuss: Similarity of Zarathustrian religion to the Bible, the differences between the Synoptic Gospels (something I need to do more research on) or the ridiculousness of Noah's Flood. I don't want it to turn out into a debate.
Bock, bock, bock... BA-GOCK!
Defiantly don't speak with him, no one here will think ill of you.
Or if you want to get your Zathura or naoh arguments shot down by someone you don't have to look in the eye you can always post them here.

Yep MNMP, you can always practice on our resident village idiot theist preechur, who starts out his attempts at holy witness with infantile playground taunts. Although I do love his typos, like the one above "Defiantly" don't speak with him . . . ha!!! -- Can't even spell definitely. Or does he think a refusal to speak with a deluded witch doctor is an act of defiance? Probably. Anyway, if you want to see the worst yawn-inducing, yammering word salad responses to any questions you might ask, just try out Drippy Doodle first. It might be worth a laugh.

True! because if I can't spell definatly then surly someone as smart as yourself or even MNMP could easily push poor retarded me over with your superior spelling skilz or much more gooder grammar, or... your superior spelling skilz..

Nah - the fact that you're a fucking superstitious idiot has nothing to do with the fact that you can't spell.
Go blow jesus out your ass.
