No one today acts Christ-like, thus making them very not Christian.
Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me most modern pretend Christians are emulating the OT god rather than the NT Jesus.
Shocker.
I'm in the Bible Belt. I'm surrounded. The vast majority of folks that I encounter are xtian.
I'm not a fan of Christianity. HOWEVER - - I simply can't judge the whole group. I know some lovely people who would never dream of preaching at anyone, and certainly never come to a forum like this and preach and judge. I tend to really appreciate folks who just simply live the way they think Jesus would want. Then there are folks like my neighbors, who leave flyers in everyone's mailbox - - the pushy ones. They are really annoying. I think there are probably a lot more quiet ones, but we usually see the screaming Westboro crowd, the Kim Davis's, the Liberty Counsel and those people who want to turn the USA into a Theocracy - with the gawd THEIR church believes in on a throne.

You can't answer what you've never bothered reading about and learning. Don't pretend you understand a damn thing about Nietzsche's work, ape.
Rough day, it's okay you can take it out on me if it makes you feel better.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

I strive to uphold my duty as a Christian quietly, unless on a forum. Surely there are hypocrites. I'm one. But that doesn't mean they aren't Christians or not attempting to follow the teachings, example, and commands of the Christ.
There is a lot of negativity flying around about Christians in general here. How do y'all even justify that?
Yeah there are crappy people out there, and Christians should actually be faithful to GOD and conduct themselves accordingly at all times based on Christian teachings but why is there sooo much animosity? Perhaps it is in response to animosity that has been shown initially by a "Christian", but if that is the case then that individual wasn't really acting Christian anyway.
I can understand how people just want to be left to their own devices too. But does that really warrant such contempt?
I was just curious.

What does acting Christ-like mean? I find the Jesus of the NT one of the most inscrutable characters in the history of literature. He seems to get pissed off at the drop of a hat and at other times he is forgiving and understanding. How is one expected to emulate such a moody and unpredictable fella?
To be fair though, the Christians I know have largely been more charitable than my atheist/secular friends. One of my Babtist mate's family takes in kids recovering from drug addiction (there's very little chance I would do that), and my Godfather's (is that the correct term if I consider myself to be no longer Catholic?) family have dedicated their lives to helping people with disabilities. The best I've done is donate $30 a month to similar causes.

Yeah, you gotta say nice sounding but obvious things half the time, and dangerous sounding things accompanied by rage at other points. Flipping tables and shit.

I think its a myth that Christ left a list of do's and don'ts and that is the only way to find a "true christian." Christ also said to stop judging and to be freely forgiving. So he anticipated that there would be imperfections left in people. However, I agree that the good christians seem to completely avoid the spirit of Jesus. The GOP panders to religious beliefs and seems to very openly defy the principles on how to treat poor and lowly people. Its fucking annoying to hear Ted Cruz blab about god knowing that Jesus would probably flip his table if he was here today
