I wake up and scream at my bowl of cereal every morning.

"Stay crunchy, you motherf*ckers!"

Fresh pediatric sashimi doesn't make you angry.

I was on a bus last week and some poor woman with her daughter was traveling away to a relatives. She was divorcing her husband and this was the first move. She was crying and asking her child (12ish) if she had some napkins. The girl didn't so I offered her the tissues I had.

She then said "Your a good christian."

I could have said "Actually I'm an Atheist."  But from her earlier outbursts I knew she was a born again Evangelical. So instead I said "I'm not religious."

I checked myself at the time, I know why I checked myself and it bothers me that I had to. It's the first time I've been effected by a minority status. As a white male I'm pretty much the default position. I've lived in poor minority communities but it was always sorta "Walden's pond". I knew I wouldn't be there forever.

So that pissed me off.

Also people in general. Few go even slightly out of their way to help others.

God rewards everybody who do good; atheist or not.
So don't be angry; you'll get a repay for your compassion one way or another; God is just..oh wait, you're an atheist..

Sorry I get crazy sometimes..they called me a troll here once, but I'm not, I simply offer a different voice in this community. being the "opposition"; it's fun sometimes, but in many cases it's not..but a lot of good people here, so..

Consider the word "Christian" to be a nice word..maybe she should've picked another word, but what do you expect from "another one", or as we say "one mainstream fella, from the mainstream, thinking like the mainstream, doing what the mainstream people do".

Get used to it; being a Muslim (and an Arab) I can tell you that you'll ge used to it..

Most atheists just have a misunderstanding of relgion. Otherwise they'd be religious like everyone else.

I know this guy is a Poe but I just wanted to say:

Most atheists understand religions better than the religious. And that's often why they are atheists.

-'If you don't believe in God, then you don't believe in anything.' (But when I reply, 'So, if you believe in god, you believe in everything?' their mouths seem to wag about and they make sounds like 'urk'.

-'Well, if you'd just read the Bible...' (Then call me a liar when I insist I have read it.)

-'Oh, yeah?  Well God doesn't believe in YOU, either!!' (Have to admit - this one leaves me stumped for a reply.)

-'Evolution can't work because of the second law of thermodynamics.' (Proving in one breath that they don't understand both basic biology and basic physics.)

The huge amount of "inspirational stories" on Facebook and the internet that have been proven false over and over.  And when you point out that the story in question was made up by some preacher, the xtians get mad at YOU.  I have been told many times "so what if it never happened, the message is TRUE!"  And when I ask why they feel the need to LIE to "bring people to Jesus" they get even more angry.   Angry   I figure they've been lying for at least 3,000 years . . . (just only recently on the internet where RUDE DISRESPECTFUL people like me can <gasp> fact-check the lies).

Not sure if it comes up later in this thread, but this being my first pass through the thread, care to share some of these made up stories? I'd like to know more about them.

"I was once an idiot atheist like you. I used to wank over Hitler, and I got my morality from evolution. I did science. I did satanic rituals.

Then one day, I fell over a bit. This guy helped me up. He looked like what I imagine Jesus would look like, if he was white. This was based on all the amazing true stories I'd been told but which I denied even though I knew they were true. He gave me a bible, and then I suddenly started being a nice person. I stopped kicking babies in the head for no reason. I threw away my nihilistic communist xenophobic soulless science Nazi manifesto, and started helping old ladies across the street.

The end."

One that I have seen at least 6 or 7 times are variations of the "dropped chalk" story.  http://www.snopes.com/religion/chalk.asp  There have been lots of others, but of course, I haven't KEPT them.  I just sent the Snopes link.  Why?

Didn't they make that chick tract into god's [sic*] not dead.

*The sic being for bad grammar, god's denotes a possessive noun such as god's book. What they were looking for was "god is" which could be shortened to gods without the apostrophe. The only noun in the English language where this rule doesn't apply is it where its denotes the possessive and it's the contraction. There, that's my grammar nazi quota for the day.

So what they're really saying is the movie is about God's "Not Dead" people. As in undead? Zombies?
A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.

Frankly their film title is as incoherent as their holy book. Expecting meaning from it is like expecting financial probity from a priest/pastor.
