OP: I'm not that strong on debate or logical/illogical fallacies but this is what strikes me.
He states, "the existence of God (& or the afterlife) is a rational conclusion of philosophical argument ".
Game over. You can't argue something into existence. You can argue that something may potentially exist but that is not proof of existence. The people that live by philosophy alone and do not include reality I don't understand.

You've been on this board for how many years, you should know better than to say such things.
What you really mean is "I really like what I believe and if you would just stop questioning it and swallow my interpretation of it, you will see what I see".
Problem is GC that is now how good logic works. You have a sales pitch, not a factual book.

I've spent the last year thinking GC was an old doating woman. Ah perceptions.

Do you honestly think that, because you said so, anybody would consider themselves intellectually handicapped?
Honestly?

I believe your post may be moot as I did imply in my post that I did study the bible and the Christian religion.. I was a Christian when I was young, went to a Christian school, not only was I told bout and read parts of the bible.. all of the children's version, went to church and re-read the bible when I was older. And I can honestly say I can and have the right to condemn all of it. So I will repeat, I am intellectually sophisticated in this area.

By the statements you made you must have been reading something besides the Bible, your statements do not reflect what the scriptures say about heaven, so it was correct for me to point out your lack of biblical understanding.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Yeah, we've noticed that pattern with you. Except I routinely have Bible discussions (friendly ones) with other Christians, including Seminary-trained pastors, and all of them remark about how well I know the Bible.
In other words, it's you, not me.
I've found many pastors lacking in an understanding of the scriptures. I'm not saying that I'm an expert, I allow the Holy Spirit to guide me and since you do not believe the Holy Spirit is real then you have never had his guidance. That means you have only a historical understanding of the Bible. The Bible is a spiritual guide to life for those who believe in Christ.

It's not surprising that the followers of christianity would portray heaven in a positive light, just as it isn't surprising that they portray their god in a positive light. That doesn't make it automatic reality, though.

@ the rest who posted, to support someone who portrays something in an untruthful manner is dishonest, take that as you wish.

What precisely has the Holy Spirit guided you to understand that escapes us ordinary mortals, GC? And I'm not talking about warm fuzzies or the tumescence you experience when you read about Jesus.
