To the theists here.
We all get our morals from the same place.
The bible has the capacity to adjust them. Sometimes for better, most times in a divisive way.
Religion or belief in a higher being is a noble philosophical pursuit, but absolute power corrupts absolutely, which has resulted in a net sum of good done by religion to be in the negative.
This is why we are better off without it.
People are killing each other for "real" reasons. Why do we need people do kill for other reasons also?
No God, No fear.

ignoramus,
It appears by what you said in that there is a willingness to be unbiased.
Where may you think morals come from ?
I think we may both agree that the pursuit of increase in wisdom and knowledge is noble if not done with conceit and in that conceit wanting to show others what is thought is wisdom.
I've been up a long time so need a rest now, I may add some more later.

Certainly not from a primitively created book full of bullshit.

Like I said before it only appeared. I think it's good that I'm careful in making judgements about people.

I judge people all the time, from a stance of logical reasoning.
No religion necessary.

Maelstrom,
I think judging without malice is logical.
Do you think logical reasoning came from humans originally ?

Indeed.
Only silly theists think reasoning is a by-product of god. The irony is that the god of the bible is quite irrational.
And that is due to the fact that primitive man created god.

Thomas: No, I wouldn't agree that goodwill and love are interchangeable. Of course, people can mean whatever they went by words.
Goodwill is something you can choose, and it's about actions. Love is an emotion. At least, that's how I use the words.
Your questions make more sense now I know you use them to mean the same thing. I'm not exactly sure where you were going with them though.

Maelstrom,
Do you think humans have existed eternally ? Do you think cells caused the human mind to exist and that the cells are the ones deserving the praise for logical reasoning to exist and not humans because they didn't create themselves ?
Have you ever looked in the Clementine Homilies at Chapter XX - Some Parts of the Old Testament Written to Try us ?
I may go for a rest soon, so we may discuss later.

Thumpalumpacus,
I plan to be kind to people even when they don't treasure what I say, I don't seek praise for what I say.

robvalue,
It may be thought that I didn't say goodwill and love have the same meaning. We may agree that people may have goodwill, thinking rationally, towards someone and cause that someone to be pleased, experiencing love.
