No, it's shame that it happens. However, if you believe some of the paranoids on this forum we're all about to be killed at any given second. Now, I don't intend to ask any of them why they're paranoid, the details would most likely just embarrass them. But the wholesale slander of a group, any group, based on the actions of a few members of that group is hardly something I'd expect from an supposedly rational person.

Also, I think the slander of cops themselves is ridiculous but I am not holy with the current system that allows no recourse when a police officer intentionally or recklessly or negligently kills their child or their parent or whoever.

Sorry, I thought that was rhetorical. And the answer is no, I don't. What is the proportion between deaths and total population in both groups?

Well I made a few statements about things I don't like so I wasn't sure which you meant. I always report police officers to POST if I think they're doing something they shouldn't. I always vote for politicians I feel can/will make a difference. I have protested in the past when I local boy was found rolled up in a gym mat and the police ruled it an accidental death.

Things do need to change. The problem is that getting any real change will require that people whose family members have been wronged or killed by the police need to go to the Supreme Court with their cases. I don't think we have as big of a police brutality issue as the media wants us to believe. I certainly don't think it's as bad a Mini likes to suggest. But when it does happen something should be done about it.

"How is it fair...?" Well there's this thing called "a sense of proportion". If the numbers are way out of proportion there that's indicator. For instance, if 10% of the troops in Iraq were shot and we compared that to 1,183/300,000,00th of the public in the US what would we notice?

UNLESS the cops are held to impossibly high standards set thus to prevent them from achieving such so as to "prove" they're ALL ROTTEN. I've seen officers run out of the Navy with such tactics.
