Refuting Christians with their Own Bible
#61
RE: Refuting Christians with their Own Bible
Not only are you willing to be a slavery apologist, you think that ancient peoples were moral midgets.  Well done.

Meh, I suppose it's not entirely your fault, that's the lie you were sold by the same people who told you that a xenocidal pedant was the source of all goodness. Even the monstrous isrealites of the bible looked down upon slavery, particularly as it pertained to one of their own....and you can't tell me they escaped from pharoah because they thought they had it real nice in egypt.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

And God doesn't like to give spoilers. He's better than the GoT book readers at least.

This whole argument is making me reflect a little. When I did believe (sort of), it was an afterthought. I didn't really give a shit, I was too busy. Once I slowed down and decided to look at religion a little closer, it was apparent the BS of it all. I left childish things behind...

You, on the other hand, dove right in to the Kool-Aid party.

General Comment:

I understand that for some it is fun to take potshots at Christians and not think about things beyond your typical predictable inch deep and mile wide list of atheist objections. I know there is an answer for every one of them and I am determined to keep trying to find people willing to civilly discuss them.

Willing to civilly discuss the merits of slavery as a method of excusing the inanity you very clearly see in your own magic book? This -is- civility, the last time we had an in depth conversation about slavery shots were fired.

Silly me, I thought the issue had been settled.

Can you discuss anything civilly or must you always have an annoying, condescending whine to everything you say? Even if you make a good point, it get's lost. You're a smart guy. Grow up some.

What conditions were like when Exodus was written is irrelevant. an almighty god doesn't need to alter morality for the times. He could simply command his people to pay the needy for work done. With or without a stable monetary system doesn't matter. To say person A owns person B because A has means and B is needy is wrong. It's slavery. You agreed it is wrong today. It is immoral today. Morality does not change. It was immoral then. Trying to convince you of this obvious fact is like your god performing miracles... it just doesn't happen.

I'm not likely to be anything -but- condescending when I find myself explaining to you, today, why slavery is, was, and always will be a Bad Idea™. That you've lost your mind on -this- issue for nothing more-or-less than the defense of fairies doesn't leave much room for you to tell someone else to grow up.

I'm a smart guy, whaddaya think...any good points in this post? Lose it?

Every time I try to give theists the olive branch and accept premises for sake of arguments my questions either lead to the theist getting angry with me, or ignoring me altogether. So...
