That would be much more difficult. Besides, people feeling this strongly about it probably see all cops as the enemy.

The other 99.979 seem to be chiefly engaged in placing those folks behind the blue shield. I believe that they call that "accomplice to murder" or "obstruction" when they pick us up. Those weren't the numbers for shootings, btw, those were the numbers for -fatal- shootings.

The shooting took place about 1.5 miles from my place. I live in a mostly black neighborhood, and the tension is palpable. I had to leave the house to do something in the office and stopped to chat with my neighbor, who drives a truck route for a living and had worked into the wee hours today, so he'd been asleep all morning and missed the news. When I told him about the shooting, he blanched and said, "Oh, man, we're fucked. This is no time to get pulled over in this town."
It's just terrible all around, and the Summer is still young. Things are going to get worse.

They don't risk their jobs or reps when they shoulder in on their fellow officers......-failure to do so- risks their job and rep....which is how a "good cop" ends up covering for a "bad cop" in the first place...or so the "good cops" keep telling us.
