As of yesterday, 630 people had been killed by police.  So if you divide 630 by roughly 195 days so far this year you get 3.2 fatalities/day.  I have no idea how many people they shoot and wound.

But it is far from uncommon.

And there are ~3,000,000 police in the US. So if you divide 630 by roughly 3,000,000 you get .021% of the police involved in police shootings.

BJS estimates that in 2008, there were 17,895 law enforcement agencies employing 1.13 million full-time workers, including over 765,000 sworn officers, as well as about 100,000 part-time employees, including over 44,000 sworn officers. That gives a total of full- and part-time employees with general arrest powers of about 810,000 in 2008.

Re-do your math.  Subtract the meter maids.

First, we're talking about people, not simple statistics. Second, when you're comparing the actual numbers, say multiple hundreds of people killed by cops in the US compared to, say, nine in China with comparable numbers of law enforcement, thousands of per cents are actual, real numbers.
