No. God hasn't given me anything. God doesn't exist.
Saying that material things will have no value in the afterlife is correct.  Because there is no afterlife.
Prayer has been tested many times under scientific method and has never proven to have any effectiveness or benefit
greater than basic meditation techniques.  You can talk you your imaginary friend all you want, or you can chant "Om" -
it has been proven to ease stress, but nothing more.

What an excellent point!

Christians - If God can and has miraculously healed people, how come he has NEVER once in human history regrown someone's limb?! Or...re-capitated someone after a car accident or beheading? Why does he only focus his attention on cancers and other illnesses that you know...*cough* have the physiological capacity to go into spontaneous remission? [emoji848]

Nope. That was the universe and my parents.

Quote:You will be waiting a long time if you demand GOD does anything for your benefit or comfort as if you are greater than GOD.
Yeah, then won't I feel silly? I think maybe I just won't bother.

Quote:GOD can do many wonderful things. Really anything. But isn't going to do things simply to make anyone's life easy just cuz they demand it as a term of their Faith.
Yeah. . . expecting God to do something for you as a reward for your hundreds of hours of devoted prayer would be silly. But not nearly as silly as spending hundreds of hours in devoted prayer knowing you're not going to get anything out of it except sore knees.
Again, prayer isn't meant to be for your wants that don't align with GOD. It is keep up in remembrance of GOD's will.

How convenient - pray for anything specific, unambiguous and testable, and nothing happens. Ever.

And atheism isn't a faith (let alone a Faith), despite your insinuation.
I didn't insinuate atheism was any sort of faith.

Someone mentioned their faith being conditional on GOD comforting them in all sorts of ways including materialistic ones.

I was speaking of that. Not that atheists have faith, except some, in chance.

Fair enough.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

For any of that to happen then GOD would have made some mistake and need to fix it.

Not really feasible, considering the omnipotence and omniscience.

What's the point of it? Why do I need to "keep up in remembrance of GOD's will", when I could happily use the time walking my dogs, playing with my family, or taking a good nap? What's the point of prayer?
