Spoken like a man who's never cooked a decent meal in his life. It takes next to no prepping, if you already know what you're doing. Ten minutest at the most. Then it's off to the oven or the pot with you doing nothing else than waiting it out.

It's not so much the chemicals, but the last microwaved meal I conveyed to the nearest bin after taking the first bite. So it's not really cost efficient.
I'm not arguing about risotto.

I do all of the weeks ten minutes on sunday afternoon, is all - a solid hour of slicing and dicing and bullshitting /w the wife while we drink - usually right after I get home from grocery shopping. I don't watch the pot, the watched pot never boils.
I;m also a big pyrex casserole guy..so sometimes I'll cook a few meals on sunday, freeze them in the pan...then lift them out and bag them for the freezer in-shape so that I can, point of fact..enjoy both the flavor and nutrition of a home cooked meal with the convenience of a microwave dinner. Pop it back into the pan, heat it up...voila. Poo-poo it all you like, my shits off the chain. You can get better chinese and laosian cuisine at my house than any resterant in this county, my curry will make you change your address to the bathroom (lol), and my falafel..and my hummus, and my tabouli are all homemade in batches of a gallon.
Don't even get me started on pregrilling steaks for later steaming...... or filleting some panfish right next to the outdoor deep fryer...with corn grit fritters I'd made on sunday and froze for that occasion when I actually managed to catch a fish. The beans and greens I just pick from my patch.

My other daughter is already bigger than her grandmother in the third grade....and woe betide the silly son of a bitch that stands between the soccer ball she wants to kick and the goal it's going to heat it's way through. Made tacos tonight. And steamed corn on the cob. The tomatoes and the corn both came from our farmer down the street.
Bi-colored sweet corn is the best ever. I'm glad I can support our local farmer rather than handing our money over to the grocery store chains. I sleep better knowing our farmer can feed and provide for his family because of so much local support here.

Chicken tacos turned out well, but there's room for improvement. Gonna get some avocado and sour cream for the second batch tomorrow.
Tonight? Thai beef curry, with peanut sauce.

Just had blue orn chips and salsa. Now I'm craving soft tacos with lots of cheese and tomatos (and of course lettuce). Like, worse than a pregnant woman.
Prolly gonna be ravioli and vodka sauce with green beans, though, for din.

A crispy tart apple.
At last night's dinner party the kafta kebab (with pita and the usual accoutrements) KG and I made was a huge hit.
