I'm not the Logic Bomber, but as i understand it, a false equivalence is stating that two things are essentially the same and may be treated as such, while conflation is the grouping of two or more disparate things.

They're related concepts, in that they're both rooted in a category error.

False equivalence: Elephants are herbivores, zebras are herbivores, therefore elephants are zebras.

Conflation: Elephants are herbivores, wolves are carnivores, but since both are mammals we can treat them identically.

Are they ephemeral considerations to you? Most life after death considerations include counter balance for all the good and bad you have done in your life.
