RE: International Blasphemy Day
Remember, before you put your problems into the hands of Jesus , that he has holes in them.

Ah. I miss the old punk bands that weren't afraid to shout obscenities at the status quo. This is true beauty.

So is Piss Christ.

Standard response from the "How to Talk to Atheists" handbook. Odds are good that you might find an atheist harmed by religion since religion is one of the most toxic human inventions. My goal for this thread is not a support group for victims of godly abuse but a healthy outpouring of demythologizing sarcasm and wit.

goddog : A palindrome. A concept of god as a human pet that has gone feral. Once having served a purpose when it assisted paleo-humans in the hunt or guarding the camp , now an attack dog serving forces intent on ever subjugating humanity.

Blasphemy : A silent goddog whistle stinging the eardrums of the hounds causing them to howl like backyard dogs cowering from fireworks.

God is a great big pussy who is so easily offended that it has to have gangs of thugs running around trying to stop people insulting it.

I'd call a human who did this pretty pathetic. For a deity to do it? I think it needs to have a good hard think about how powerful and non-human it really is.

Jesus is a wankstain. Allah is a slimy turd.

If you take that personally, it's because you're projecting yourself onto those characters. Funny how they agree with you about everything, huh?

This is about free speech in general, and about all ideas being fair game for satire, criticism and debate. Good ideas should not need protecting.

Ideas are dead. And its stupid to be mad at ideas. What makes them alive in religion are followers and leadership of the church.

Why not express your opinion in the face of particular leader or followers of the church?

I agree. I don't get mad at ancient religions with offensive ideas. Nearly nobody even takes them seriously anymore, so it's safe to ignore the threat (if any) they may have posed in their prime. Actually, I enjoy reading into ancient mythology. If I lived far in the future after the current religions died out, I'd treat them the same way.
