That's probably how a person comes to understand what it's like being someone else, just to answer the question in the same post. In the same vein, it also explains how me might similarly understand that not everyuthing that bothers the other™ is a thing..as not everything that bothers me is actually a thing.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

And why can't I call you honey, I won't be rude.
It just means I think you look nice.

Calling someone honey is not sexist.
Saying a woman can't go to school is sexist.
Saying a woman "asked for it" is sexist.

Sweet and subtle compliments on your appearance is not sexist.
She should get her priorities straight.

Are you a guy?

Are you a gal?

Yes! I asked because you make the statement that men don't catcall that much. Just trying to understand where you're coming from. It's a fair question, don't you think?
If The Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

This song isn't very good imho. If this was supposed to be talking about feminism, I didn't hear it. The lyrics reminded me of the classic hits that very obviously inspired it (these boots are made for walkin'), so it wasn't saying anything important. I really didn't like the sound, either.

I dunno. Maybe if it was talking about cat calling, I could connect the dots. I really don't think it was though. Maybe objectifying? I think it really just missed the mark though.

Also, sometimes I just like being called pet names. That has nothing to do with feminism.

You're a good normal second wave feminist.

Like every good man who respects women. But you don't see any 2nd wave feminism here. Just maybe some 3rd wave feminism but I can't know till I ask her.

In the UK at least there very much is. The factors that affect this are multiple and nuanced, but mostly it appears to be caused by women leaving full time work to raise children, and upon returning being a few years behind their male counterparts doing similar work. For me a way to stop this would be to equalise maternity and paternity leave and pay rights, give couples a year to divide out between them when they have a child and force employers through legislation to recognise the time taken by both women and men (currently it's around 2 weeks full pay for fathers and around 6 months at full pay for women, with the right to take up to a year with reduced pay + accrued holiday entitlement). Some statistics:

https://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/m...n-lifetime

Quote:Women are likely to earn £300,000 less than men over their working lives, according to a new analysis that has sparked fresh calls for more shared parental leave to close the UK’s stubborn gender pay gap.

Before International Women’s Day on Tuesday, figures show a gap of £5,732, or 24%, in average full-time annual salaries between women and men – more than four decades after the Equal Pay Act of 1970 was introduced.

Over a career of 52 years, that gap translates into a lifetime earnings shortfall of £298,064 for female employees, according to the analysis by the recruitment company Robert Half

Wow, didn't know that it goes on in the UK.

I'll do some research on it when I can.

However, it sounds like she only doesn't like it because the guy is old.
She says she's something special and twice as smart and that he wouldn't know what to do with her if he had her.
So she sounds a bit ageist as well.
Personally, her facial expressions really annoy me. She thinks she's all that.
I could be biased, as I'm on the verge of entering the old fart club. :-)

I understand, but the fact is that she made a song about it.

Maybe she wanted to warn other creeps to not fuck with her, but irl it doesn't happen that much.

GG, yeah I am and it does seem to be fair so... Why not tell ya.
But it's not just that I think men cat call that much.

It's that and a few other videos I saw that happened to have hour long gaps between each catcall.

Normal men don't do it that much to women.
It's just that those minority of men do it to the majority of women.

Which is wrong of course.

Yeah, I agree. Most men really wouldn't see the catcalling so much when they aren't the targets of it. I doubt that any of the men here are that kind of guy, but that also means it's that much less visible to them. Personally, I've seen this from both perspectives. It definitely becomes much more obvious from the female side of things.

Bleh. I don't want to get into the whole "# wave" crap. I stand with feminists. That's all there is to it.
I don't believe you. Get over it.
