Do you see any benefits to religious faith?

RE: Do you see any benefits to religious faith?
So which are you claiming that it is? And does the atheist in question take possession of it?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

See, this is the problem you're sidestepping:

Is all this really necessary for you when it's right on the thread?

Yes I did. Faith was used by a man to describe belief in a manmade religion. To convince me that faith was ever about belief in something that wasn't manmade, you'll have to show me a religion that isn't (or wasn't as the case may be) man made.

Just because some people believe their religion isn't manmade, this misapprehension doesn't allow you to infer that their religion isn't manmade.

It doesn't matter if an atheist, Buddhist, anarchist, gymnast, entomologist or a tennis ball claims that faith meant man made belief in the bible when the text unequivocally says it is not.

Yes, because I've seen enough of your posts to recognise a pattern of dolphinetic obfuscation unless pinned down to a specific position.

And the comic makes the same error of telephone game colloquialisms. Rolleyes

It's as if the definition of sprinting has degenerated to walking briskly and I'm saying "no, sprinting is actually running as fast as you can." And your saying "No, I sprinted home this morning and didn't even break a sweat or go over 4 mph."

The actual operative function of "faith" has been lost in the public mind, much to the advantage of The Church. Because revenue would drop sharply if people were encouraged to seek direct experience of God for themselves fasting in the wilderness like the original Christians. If you can get people stuck in belief, they will always depend on you to keep it propped up and slay doubts for them. Money money money.

Money is the lifeblood of religion.

Long as you use the ether first and don't touch my wings or else you'll lose all the pretty colors and have to find a new specimen.

Also way to miss the point.

I think you've missed the point and are firing off on a semantic tangent.
