It's worse than that, while Clinton did defend him, she wasn't pleased at first requesting that another public defender be got, and when she ended up with the case her defence work was to persuade him to take a plea.
Also, when the victim was told in 2008 who Clinton actually was she showed no ill will towards her for doing her job, only displaying it very recently in 2015 after Clinton was assumed by all to be a lock for the Democratic nomination. I'm always suspicious of such changes of emotion years after the fact when public personae are involved.
