You have an only child who you love dearly. He is flesh of your flesh and blood of your blood. And discharge of your discharge, too.
So, you care about him. You care about his future, too.

You can pay for his education in a university, help him become a doctor or a lawyer. But that will ensure his well-being in the temporary world.
Measly 70 years maximum.
But what about life-everlasting? Do you want him to suffer for eternity in a lake of fire?
Many devoutly religious parents consider the status of their offsprings eternal soul more important than the status of their earthly position.

Actually, I read about a man who lost faith and then killed himself after his credit card was not erased.
Maybe this was not just one case... who knows.

is it possible to sue a televangelist for not delivering?
if I was a relative of a suicide?
Tort this Murdock out of all of his money?

Now this Charlie Campbell

(btw, apparently he is still active

or rather his followers... that money, the savings they had could be better spent on graduation of their children or grandchildren.

Unfortunately no, like so many other charlatans that prefer to call themselves Dr. this that or the other...you cannot sue them for malpractice, is it were.  They want the title and privilege, not the responsibilities and consequences...par for the course...they're christians after all.

Why have I started this thread? Well, I am in Europe, and we are godless heathens and I saw plenty of Americans who come to

What is the point of studying medicine (8 years?), when you get raptured in 2 years?
Probably he should just get a job flipping burgers...

..because we are commanded to live out our lives till the day he comes.

Many people in the time of christ just gave up and lived off of welfare/the church benevolence This is what tim said:

I don't think anyone is living their life because god commanded them to do so, earnestly, Drich.  You're living out your life because you have an interest in doing so.  The piety, oh the delicious piety.

If I wanted to go to med school and knew the world was going to end next year, of course I wouldn't start. Ig wouldn't make much sense. Thing is, we don't know when the world is going to end.

I'm still barren . . . .
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Harold Camping comes first to mind when I think about people who knew when the world is going to end.

Charlie Campbell knows when the world is going to end.

John Hagee and Mark Biltz
The so-called Blood Moon Prophecy, first predicted by Mark Blitz in 2008 and then by John Hagee in 2014. These Christian ministers claim that the tetrad in 2014 and 2015 may allegedly represent prophecies given in the Bible relating to the second coming of Jesus Christ.

======
Heck, if you have children who go to high school now, then there is no point to save for their college.
Because
Jeane Dixon claimed that Armageddon would take place in 2020 and Jesus will return to defeat the unholy Trinity of the Antichrist, Satan and the False prophet between 2020 and 2037. She had also previously predicted the world would end on February 4, 1962.

or a year later...
F. Kenton Beshore bases his prediction on the prior suggestion that Jesus would return in 1988, i.e., within one Biblical generation (40 years) of the founding of Israel in 1948. Beshore argues that the prediction was correct, but that the definition of a Biblical generation was incorrect and was actually 70–80 years, placing the Second Coming of Jesus between 2018 and 2028 and the Rapture by 2021 at the latest.

=============================================================

Really, a helluva lot of people have known when the world will come to the end and passed that knowledge to their disciples and followers.
