Hurricane Matthew
#21
RE: Hurricane Matthew
For a Hurricane that Wasn't, Matthew is having quite an impact in my neck of the woods. Definitely seems like a Category Something. I had to call 911 for a family friend, and was on hold for almost 10 minutes. When EMS finally got there, they said they'd rescuing people from flooded vehicles non-stop, since earlier this evening.

I was asked to not attempt to drive to the hospital, so I didn't.
Did drive home, though. (Yes, I know...I'm horrible).
Took some doing to find streets that didn't look flooded/pretty iffy, pitch black, OR clearly have too much debris in the way.

Made it home, and parked my car further up from the house, where there appears to be a slight incline. Lucky for me, the wind was gusting in the general direction of my front door. Made it in the house, drenched to the drawers.

Power just started flickering on and off, this very moment, and the wind sounds like a freight train.

All this just from the outer bands of the storm (I think); We're actually the lucky ones.

The Amazing Drich lives in FL, I think. I wonder how he and his family made out.

He's in Orlando, right? I'd think his drawers are only a little wetter than usual.

lol...Orlando sounds right. I'm not sure, though.

Storm's pretty much passed over here now.
Just a soft wind and quiet drizzle.

Glad to hear reports of people okay. Houses, furniture and material stuffs are replaceable - lives aren't.

Street outside my house is flooded.

A least half the cars are done for; Submerged well past the seats.

Hope everyone is OK. Here the most we get is gust wind and rain. Some weak tornadoes here and then. I kike rain. Rain washes my roof, wind takes it away.

Can you see yours? Did the incline do its job?
