Leave the heavy thinking to people who can handle it, Dripshit.  You are out of your pay grade.

The mandatory evacuation were based on storm surge models, which he predicted 7 to 11 ft with waved that would push in some cases well past I 95 (miles inland) we got a 3 ft storm surge and typical storm damaged to A1A where it touches the beach. The point I was making was not the evacuations but the predicted disaster that did not happen.

Yes people died because of the storm but more people die in flordia on a regular day than died in the storm.

What I am saying is the governor did not make good use of the information provided, and he got it wrong. Which is not a big deal because I get better safe than sorry, But Rather than admit he went all chicken little on us he is playing up the damage that did happen and is doing a victory lap instead.

Here's the thing. What is going to stick out in resident's minds are the 3 days in storm shelter hell, or the hundreds if not 1000's of dollars spent preping, and this guy patting himself on the back where he was right, and ignoring everything else. People are going to see this as some political game, and without the proper information the next time a storm like this happens they will ignore all the warnings. Because this storm was supposed to be the biggest ever and would kill everyone left in the evac zones ect ect... When in fact most of the coast saw moderate damage to sand dunes and piers.

This "The sky is falling" call to arms every time something a little more serious than the norm occurs desensitizes people to real danger. This is a wreckless attitude to have when you are incharge of so many.

All I am saying is if you tell people that everyone will die if the don't get out because of a 10 ft storm surge Then 6 ft waves on top of that... and you don't get even a 3ft storm surge.... Then you need to admit the mistake, and explain what went wrong. Not play up the damage that did happen.

People are not all morons.

Glad you're ok, Drich
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

As much disdain as I have for some people here, I am glad everyone is safe. Including Drich. Hope no damage was done to your home or business.

Actually I had the fore site to whether the storm in a place where they predicted 100 mph winds. didn't board up nor did I panic, why? because of the 5 other storms we endured in the last 10 years. So you are right hind site is 20/20 we just need people in the place of leadership that can take that clear view and not use it to panic people, or use this as an opportunity to sell out grocery stores and gas stations.

RE: Hurricane Matthew
Yeah, I may have previously mentioned this, but good friends of mine have two condos in Daytona Beach. They stayed there and videotaped the waves crashing over the wall to the back parking lot, which was a reasonable distance from the normal high tide. Crazy as they were, they were safe and actually partied with other residents that chose to stay as well.
