The XIIth Amendment requires the electors to cast separate votes for President and Vice President. That system has been in place since the election of 1804. Pence was nominated for Vice-President.
What you are hinting at is that Trump agrees to be sworn in and then resign immediately.
I agree with your conclusion: Not happening.
I just heard some GOP operative call for Pence to quit also and give up on the White House. With an ego like Drumpf's that's NOT HAPPENING either!

The thing is, this isn't just about Donald Trump sleeping around, or liking to have sex. There's nothing wrong with that.
The problem is what his words convey, and imply.
“You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.” “And when you’re a star, they let you do it,” Trump says. “You can do anything.” “Grab them by the p---y,” Trump says. “You can do anything.”
“I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,” Trump says.
For a translation for those who miss what he's saying here:
"I can do anything I want with women (and my tiny hands) because I'm a star. I can grab them by the pussy, and they're not going to say anything. Even if it's unwanted. I made a move on a married bitch, but she turned me down."
