There are also hedonist benefits to gain from fasting: You wouldn't believe how good a sautéed mushroom and onion, blue cheese burger tastes after a week off food!

Yet another flaw of the human mind, clinging to anything we think might be remotely related to our silly beliefs.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yep. @EruptedCarcassBloat - your body is releasing the ghrelin hormone at noon because that's when it expects you to feed it.

The important part of that sentence is the "do not fast" bit, ofc.  Some nutter online tells us that mushrooms taste better after being "off food" long enough to entirely fuck a person up.

It's exceedingly bad advice.   Keep peddling it, though.

Your humor device is broke and I've fasted for a week at a time, several times and had plenty of energy to hike back down the mountain. But feel free to adhere to the rules and paradigm prescribed for you.

I'm just glad you didn't sugar rage and kill a fellow hiker, Ark.  The grip we have on sanity is tenuous, you've relinquished it...but that hardly makes it good advice to others.

That's just foolish, Ark. You're lucky they didn't find your body in a ravine somewhere.
