Once this runs its course, I'll do a poll or something and ask staff if our idea is kosher, which I'm sure they won't mind whatever we come up with.

Why not just do a 'virtual' gift, find something online for a max price inc shipping and 'gift' the url. Participants should then purchase it themselves and post a photo with said gift. If you're gonna spend the same amount anyway, does it really matter if you physically buy what you have chosen for someone else, or something that someone else has chosen for you?
