I'm sure that's going to spark a whole new round of negative news. But then again, this isn't really all that surprising, considering his general mistrust of establishment politicians, Washington, the media, intelligence officials (I don't trust them a whole lot either), and pretty much all kinds of insiders.

Whether or not he really believes that the election process is going to be rigged against him, I think his main reason of promoting this idea is simply to make more people (edit: or rather his base) go out and vote, as Min just pointed out.

Essentially, he is attempting to rig peoples' minds - by using the fear tactic.

OK OK I know, I know, I'm no fan of the US. Suffice to say I think the US is one of the most obnoxiously backward-thinking places in the "west". In fact, better yet I'll let an actual yank explain why Australia is better (by no means are we "perfect"):

In fact there's a lot Australia has yet to learn from Europe. But one of the most offensive things I hear is when the yanks or their political leaders/President (and especially when used by their political leaders) call themselves "leader of the free world" or similar. Because that's wrong on so many levels - for one it implies that the US would take full responsibility for their military fuck-ups, but they never do. For example, following WWI Germany was forced to pay hugely unfair reparations to the Allies. The US should have been forced to pay fair reparations to Vietnam and other countries they have clearly wronged with their illegal military actions. Iraq would be another, just to give some examples. Australia and the UK should also be forced to pay fair reparations for illegal wars that we took part in.

I digress. Anyway, according to Trey Parker (Southpark) & Michael Moore, Trump ran for the Republican nomination purely as a publicity stunt to put him into a position to negotiate a higher salary for his TV shows. If Michael Moore was the one to say it I'd ignore it as hearsay, but given the fact that Southpark makes it clear their view is that giant douche doesn't really want to be President I sit up and pay full attention! Neither the giant douche or the turd sandwich are suitable for the presidency in my view, but then again neither was Obama, George W, Bill, or Reagan. Most of whom are war criminals in my opinion, as much as anything else. Hillary is already a war criminal, and so is her husband Bill. Trump, if he becomes president (and in my view it's highly likely), will undoubtedly become another.

And to bring that back to my point about "leader of the free world"- in my view Australia is an example of a world leader in the way of multiculturalism. In my view many other countries can also hold claim to be world leaders in other areas, such as drug management and criminal rehabilitation, and plenty of other aspects of society. New Zeeland is definitely a world leader in Indigenous recognition & relations. The US probably has claim to something - I'm not trying to deny them that, but they're not "the" leader, and in some areas such as healthcare they are on the very bottom of the OECD. And as the yank in the video above says, they should humble themselves to learn from other countries. She's actually incorrect about gun control in Australia - we have firearms, but they are highly regulated and private sales are prohibited (unless brokered through a gun dealer). It's not that difficult to get a firearms licence, just like it's not that difficult to get a driver's license.

And I should end on the point that democracy is another area where Australia is a world leader. We invented the secret ballot - and in fact, in modern times you are allowed to write or mark your ballot paper if you want, but if you make it identifiable it becomes an informal vote and won't be counted. We also invented Hare-Clark - although yes technically it was a refinement of the preferential voting system first invented by Thomas Hare (a pom).

Right, but convincing the moderate American that the election is rigged is silly. The point is that the fear tactic only works on people who are susceptible to it lock stock and barrel, and that is a small slice of the electorate which is already voting for him.

Everyone has seen the videos, heard the recordings. No one thinks the media is fabricating things when Trump says them himself. The only people who want to believe that the reason that people aren't voting for their candidate is that there is something shady going on are voting for Trump already.

Slandering the American Election system only works to his disadvantage. Inciting violence and fear at polling stations is going to work against him. It sends a clear message as to what Trump's 'Great' America truly looks like. Armed citizens attempting to use the threat of violence to get their way? People reject that.

People have been blasting me and others for equating Trump to Hitler. And so forgetting the context. Once again and tactics and last night proved it once again. 5 years of birtherism, a year of scapegoating Hispanics and Latinos and prisoners of war and dead soldiers and American born judges, he on more than one occasion AS A POLITICIAN suggested, winked at, "2nd Amendment solutions" regarding a political rival, said last night he would not vow to accept the results of the election.

You put this all together this is not the behavior and not just his misogyny this as I have been saying, is NOT what we want in western civil politics. His talk about blaming everyone else is the same tactic Hitler used and a very dark road that leads to very dark things. The good thing is that we are still in tact as a western society and in that context his dangerous rhetoric can be challenged and fortunately for society Trump's own worst enemy is his own fucking mouth.

He isn't Jerry Springer or Howard Stern or a writer for South Park, he is a textbook example of of what leads to despots. His vile dangerous scapegoating may play well with his base the far right, but he will not win enough swing voters and he has already lost women. I am confident regardless of whom people thought won, that he did not do a damned thing to swing that needle back enough to win. I also hope that with all the continued hateful bullshit and now the cries of not accepting election results that will widen the margin against him and send a very clear message to anyone seeking public office OF ANY KIND local, state or congress and especially president, that NO POLITICAL PARTY should ever aspire to his disgusting despot rhetoric.
