Getting into the mind of a psychopath

If that's the case, well done for 2.0. You sustained it for a long time until whatever shit came along to hit your fan and set you back...  if you were trying to find better ways of relating to/interacting with people, 2.0 was imo a great success.

No no... no attention required... on the contrary, I've enjoyed the peace and quiet 

But since we are talking right now, however briefly, I've wanted to say this but never been quite sure when would be the appropriate time so what the hell, I'll say it now. It's not meant as an insult, just an observation, and I was hoping you'd see the funny side... but that's usually an unlikely hope. But who knows? Anyways, you know who you remind me of... as in the absolute spitting image? "The Motherfucker" in Kick-Ass. Every time I see him I think of you

But anyway, back to this. I liked 2.0 and I'd almost forgotten 1.0. We were getting on alright, gradually starting to talk to each other more. I realise that's a thing of the past now and accept that that's my fault really. But for what it's worth, my gut feeling was that 2.0 was a genuine attempt at a clean slate... starting over. But Rob's psychopath post threw me for a loop and basically triggered thoughts of 1.0 again... so it was always bubbling there under the surface as a possibility, but one I had largely forgotten about until then. I think it's not the case, and I hope it's not the case, but there's always the possibility that it is the case.

I neither like him nor dislike him. I'm neutral about him.

I also don't think EP is a psychopath, though (too angsty, lol). I think it's more he's starving for attention and is happy to garner negative attention if that's what it takes. In the process, he may end up harming others who may have taken him for granted.

I dislike some aspects of him, certainly.

I like some of his observations and agree with him on some things. We both like Sam Harris. I definitely agree with him more about logical stuff than social stuff. But then we disagree a lot about logical stuff too. And philosophical stuff. Morally theoretically we seem similar but in practice we take a very different approach. We're not friends.

Dunno if he likes attention or not. Don't know what his motivations are. Don't care to be honest. About that. Care about him in that I care about everyone and don't want anyone to suffer. I repeat though, he's not my friend. He's a poster who makes the occasional post I agree with but I still often disapprove of his tone and I do dislike most of his posts.

I wonder, natural selection was brought up... is a psychopath more likely to have psychopathic offspring? Genetically speaking at least. If not, like with homosexuality, natural selection is irrelevant. I suppose being raised by one is more likely to make you one...

Absolutely not empty emotionless robots. They experience excitement a lot for starters.

Psychopaths are pleasure seekers. Regret for themselves perhaps, but not shame or remorse. Low or non-existent anxiety... high excitement.

Sociopaths have no remorse or shame either, they have regret... but their anxiety is very high as well as their excitement, and they're more prone to rage and less calculating. That's the way I see it.

Talk to one that has been incarcerated or institutionalized. They express shame and remorse but it is only for them selves, none for society.  

On a side note, anybody have any thoughts on the Macdonald triad as a predictor?

Any other thoughts on genetic vs environment?

Of course a psycopath may pragmatically express remorse as part of being a mimic.
