And someone points out suddenly stopping the earth's rotation would have snapped off all the delicate stalactites in caves the world over, some of which took tens of thousands of years to form and yet there they are for any one to walk into a cave today and look at ?
I have a feeling there'd be far greater and farther reaching consequences to slamming on Earth's breaks than that.  Wink

Well, the earth's crust would rupture and melt.  But I really like the stalactite thing.  They really are fragile.  Many are enormous and some have taken millennia to form.

Joshua torqueing the planet to make a point in some ancient battlefield is so gracefully and subtly refuted by a piece of delicate rock hanging in a cave.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

But that's not its job. It's the job of the people who say they did happen to prove that they did in fact happen.

If you believe the miracles of the Bible because they haven't been disproved, then you must literally believe the miracles of every holy book.

I believe the miracles of the Bible because I believe in the God who performed the miracles, and I believe in the truth of Scripture as an inspired book of God.

And why do you believe in this particular deity from a pool of literally thousands over the history of civilisation?

Indeed.

The stalactites concur.

Do you think it is possible, that God, all powerful creator and sustainer of the universe, in making the sun stand still, would also be able to prevent the destruction of the stalactites? Granted, belief in an all powerful God is required for both the miracle and the saving of the stalactites. My point being that stalactites may not necessarily prove that the miracle did not happen. If the laws of science are being broke once, why not twice? What an awesome God! ;D

And that's where your argument collapses.  Your god is no more real that Zeus, Odin, Quetzlcoatl.... or Min!

Unless you have some evidence and if so, it is time to present it.

Exactly. I usually just counter these sorts of claims with the claim that I am the creator goddess. It's just as valid. Oh, you have a miracle claim? Prove that it was your god who did it and not me.
I don't believe you. Get over it.

Rolleyes

Does this mean I have the power of prophesy? At what point can I expect your adoration and worship? Tithes are 20%, standard rate, ofc. Better than the trickster god you currently worship. You get to sleep in on the sabbath (which is everyday) -and- live in unrepentant sin. I'll never pull some elaborate bullshit just to fuck with you, like yahweh with the stalactites.

The stalactites are telling but pretty minor compared to the crust of the earth buckling, oceans sloshing o'er the lands, and the core of the earth vomiting molten lava everywhere.

I don't know how big the 'miracle' budget is, but Joshua really burned through a heap of it.

In fairness, he -was- sending alot of souls to meet their maker.  Bloodgod loves that sort of thing. Call it a value-added miracle...offsets the cost?
