WTF did he think was going to happen if he slipped into one of those pools?

Fuck's sake. Unless you see local wildlife jumping in for a soak, and even then it's fishy, stay the fuck out of these kinds of pools. Pro tip: if it's not a place where tourists are flocking to soak, it might not be a good idea to soak there.

Having been to the location in question, I can say with 100% certainty that the thought of slipping in for a nice soak never crossed my mind.

Fucking hell, the water is nearly boiling in those pools, and it's obviously loaded with who knows what minerals and such.

I second the nomination for a Darwin Award.

Darwin Award.

It's amazing what people will do at Yellowstone. There are signs everywhere saying don't go near the bison because people are killed every year by them. Yet you'll find no shortage of people going and getting up right next to them to get a good picture.

I've never been, but I'm completely fascinated. I've done loads of research pieces on various aspects of the park from the Morning Glory Pool to the wolves. People are fucking assholes there. They don't realize it's really untamed for the most part, and that their presence can hugely effect the ecology. Hate people.

Oh, yeah, the Morning Glory Pool thing pisses me right off. It wasn't uncommon to find trash littered in and near the geysers and springs. We've got all these unique natural wonders, and people don't give a shit.

Check out the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. That was probably my favorite part, and the pictures don't do it justice.

I'll look it up now. I've heard of it, but don't mind a refresher.

Ugh. That thing was gorgeous. They destroyed in a matter of decades.

ETA: I would love to go, but OCD and anxiety make traveling hard nowadays. Hope I can see it at some point.

More a volunteer than a victim, right?  It's not like the bubbling pool of caustic liquid was out to get him, chasing him around the park and shit, lol.  Wink
