I've tried to use those alerts, but they just seem to be useless.... and extra work to manage and delete and stuff....
"My Posts" gives no indication whether or not any new post is directed at you. Alerts take me directly to the ongoing conversation. I also use alerts to track thread subscriptions.
Yeah, but then you miss the other replies on that thread, no?
With "my posts" I follow the whole thread. Sure, there are a few that aren't worth it... But most are.

I simply click on the post of mine they quoted (usually my last one) and catch up from there.

Wow to mobile alerts. But it's slightly different to how it works on the site in the sense that once a page of alerts is seen it decrements the alert count by the number of alerts in that page, even if you didn't click on any of them. So for instance at present I have 17 alerts on the full version but 0 on the mobile version because I've viewed both pages of alerts. Is that the intended functionality?

Hmm, that doesn't happen to me. Just to confirm, you view the alerts on the regular site, then go over to the mobile site and some are missing?
Do you click on anything when on the alerts page?

No no, not missing, just the number reduced. So on the full version if I open up the alerts and then close it, the number stays the same... it only reduces by one at a time when I actually click on one of the the alerts. But on the mobile version merely viewing a page of alerts reduces the number in brackets by the number of alerts on the page. So from my mobile I saw 17 alerts at first.. then looked at the dialog and when I came out it said 7. I thought that was curious so I went in and out again... still 7... so then I went in again and navigated to page 2 of the alerts, and as expected that reduced the count to 0. So it's basically a count of the number of alerts not read in the actual alert box, as opposed to not clicked on which is what it counts in the full version. But all the alerts themselves are all still there... it's only the number in brackets that's changed.
