Palin is detestable for several reasons, but let's be realistic here. Without resorting to the internet or some other reference, immediately name the last two or three U.S. ambassadors to Canada. 

If Trump was at all serious about cutting government largesse, this position should be among the first to get whacked. Seriously, what the ever loving fuck does a U.S. ambassador to Canada do? If we're going to waste tax payer dollars on a useless office, why not fill it with a useless politician, eh?


Because a politician useless here will probably be much worse than useless there.

Not exactly the ambassador, but embassy 'residents' have been known to recruit intelligence gathering operatives in occasion.

A lot I mentioned the powers a responsibilities of the position earlier in the thread the U.S ambassador has a lot of power in Ottawa (post #15)

As for knowing who the last two were Bruce Heyman the current one (who is very popular in Ottawa) and before him David Jacobson then before him there was Wilkins (all this from memory )

True, there is still need for an embassy. I just wonder if our fleet of ambassadors could be pared down to 15-25 stateside diplomats.
