If you are an Atheist, it should be required reading! At least if you want to be informed, and know what you are against.
What person goes into any conflict w/o studying their adversaries first? That would be foolish.
Who knows? You may also get something Good out of reading it!

i wouldn't call the book good id say its a good piece of literature if you look at it from a historical point of view.
Otherwise the bible isn't a good book it is really anti life.

Why, Ron, would atheists consider you or magic book their adversaries?
In any case, like most anthologies...it's a mix of good and bad reading.

I've read plenty of good books. None of them were religious.

I don't see you or your friends as my adversaries. Is that how you see me and mine?

I did. I got twelve hours solid sleep.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

I'm against bible believing religions? Is that how you see it? Why am I not instead against Veda believing religions? The Tao Te Ching? The Analects? You seem to imply that yours is the only religion I need to be prepared to face. Au contraire. Let me assure you that I'm not well read in many religious texts. Do you think that yours is special for some reason?

The truth of Christian behavior isn't contained in the bible. Whether there is a literal hell or not is not contained in the bible, but rather in the minds of believers who are continually reinterpreting things to suit their objections. The text is not so important as the process by which they arrive at their conclusions. Studying the bible won't help with that.

In the true definition of the word? Yes! Unless you are here on this subtopic forum to agree with me/us Christians?
And I've fallen asleep many times reading the bible. According to scripture that's a good time for God to talk to you! Keep sleeping!

The fact that you consider atheists adversaries and think there has to be conflict just because we don't share your beliefs is very troublesome. This is why we can't have nice things.
While I consider some theists "adversaries", it's not simply because of differing beliefs. I only care if a person's actions are making my life harder. Simply being a theist doesn't do anything to me. Most theists never bother me at all. Some theists are even among my friends and one is dating me.

Well, you are the one who brought up "....reading the good book?" on the Christian forum. What is a saint supposed to think?!
And pray-tell, what is the "Christian behavior"? Sounds more like you toss around the stereotypical straw man rather than face Christians head on? That'll thwart us off!!
You might [want] to group all religions and specifically Christians into your small box. But that won't win you any intellectual conversations with the majority of religious. Nor will it prove anything, but your ignorance and unwillingness to learn something you might not know.
You seem to have all the answers right there in your head! So what's the point of being here? Draw unsuspecting Christians in with a harmless question... only to douse them with a healthy helping of atheist shtick? Typical, and boring.

One question..... Are you for me?
