You really want to celebrate Pence?

I'm far less worried about Pence and here's why. He lacks the personality to hype up Trumps moron followers. And is far easier to pressure by more sane Republicans . Put it this way if trumps inner circle were the Nazi party Steve Bannon would be Joseph Goebbels .  While Pence would be Martin Bormann a facile toady who would come in at the regimes collapsing point despite having great legal power.

On a federal level have seen Pence say or do anything independent of someone telling him to so?. He's a first rate crony. And as president that's the role he'd play. Id be far more concerned with what Bannon would do. But I suspect mainstream republicans will pressure Pence into giving him the axe so he can be there puppet instead. Summed up Trumps Pence's balls without him Pence is just a yes man.

Agreed.

And given that kind of congress, this doesn't give you pause?

Nope because the congress won't know what it wants or what it's doing. They will essentially revert to the Republicans of the Obama years .A squabbling bunch of back biting power mongers who will be to busy playing power games to get much done .Trumps there Batista without him they will revert to the kind of politics Trumps followers are cynical of and they will become disinterested. And next election they will lack anyone to fill Trumps shoes or speak to his base.

I'm torn.

On the one hand, Trump is keeping Republicans divided so they will have a harder time enacting some of their most batshit crazy policies. Indeed, Under Pence, they might become more united and turn the US into a theocracy.

On the other hand, Pence isn't so mentally imbalanced that he'll start a war via twitter, or destabilize our long standing alliances over every perceived slight.

I already feel like we are getting the worst of both worlds. Batshit insane leader, plus Christianity inserting itself into public life via Betsy DeVos and her "school choice" voucher BS, and back door Muslim bans.

Talk about caught between a turd and a shit sandwich. Sad

I'm doubtful of the  theocracy part sure Pence probably faps to the idea every night but getting the hookers and blow liberation righties on board might be a challenge . One I don't think Pence is up for . As for him uniting the right I again don't think he has the strength to fight entropy of republican infighting.

Why do you constantly compare it to the Obama years? Pence is very much in agreement with Republican positions. Bot on the federal as the state level. There will be religious laws pushed through state houses without the union of the supreme court opposing them. There will be a rollback on civil and social liberties on the federal as well as the state level. Virtually noone will stand up to fight against something like that. Noone. It's on the agenda for quite some time now. And now's an opportunity to turn it into reality.

There will be no opposition. Goes for Trump too, obviously. And I am curious as to why you assume that there would be infighting over issues most republican representatives agree on.

I'd rather see Pence in office than Trump.

Pence would **** America for sure but he might be more survivable than Trump from a foreign perspective.
The US looks ****ed either way at this point.
