Why I don't view Star Wars the same way now.

My views on Star Wars haven't changed at all. I saw the first of the films when I was about 10, and I'm still of the opinion that they are ripping good entertainment for 10 year olds.

The original Star Wars trilogy was as much a redemption story as it was a hero's journey. You can't have redemption without someone to redeem. Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker fits the bill perfectly. The message is not that mass murder/genocide is ok, but that people who do bad things can be redeemed. When you add in that Anakin was seduced (helped along by his fear for Padme) by the dark side and did not seek it out, the redemption becomes more plausible.

In the end, it's fiction. Quite enjoyable fiction at that. And, like the buy-bull, you can pull just about any message you want from it. I'd recommend them as a good way to kill 6 hours (or more if you include the prequels and follow up stories). Nothing more, nothing less.

I mentioned that. Darth was the biggest "What the fuck were you thinking" plot hole in the series, but yea. Liea does kiss him in Empire, and you look back at that and say, "No sorry guys, but that is beyond a jump cut, that is the stuff of adds in the back of Penthouse magazine"

Again, still love the original three. But those to script motifs really make me pause.

Vivid's porn parody handled them with superb irony. When Vader wants to interrogate Leia with his, er, probe, she says that her father would kill her. To which he replies that he knows her father, who's had tons of tail.

Later, after the Death Star is destroyed and Luke and Han are about to celebrate with Leia, Luke remarks that all his experience has been with his Aunt Beru; so Leia offers to show him what it's like to be with someone to whom he isn't related...
