I'll give it a try, since I'm probably one of the biggest Trek nerds you could meet, but I won't be paying to watch it.
CBS took over ownership from Paramount and then let the old Star Trek forums fall apart, leaving it un-moderated, even after some of the long standing members volunteered for the duty.
Then they used the chaos they left there as part of their excuse to close them.
Not giving CBS a cent of my money.

Out of curiosity, what is your definition of "Trek nerd"?

Is this the part where I tell you how to access this sort of stuff when you're not in an English speaking country?

They need to build on to the history the was created with Next Generation, Voyager, and DS9.
This is just another "retro" show that is set before Kirk's time.
They tried that once before with a little show called "enterprise".
It killed the franchise for a lot of years.
If they want so badly to go retro, they should simply re-shoot the original (well, mayby not "Spock's Brain) series.
Honestly, the reviewer, while she made a few good points, reminded me of atheists that wants to hide the atheist label. Her insistence that she's not a "trekkie" rings hollow when she starts griping about all the types of things trekkies gripe about.
I'm going to wait until the broadcast premier before I decide whether to pony up for the service, wait and catch it all on a free week binge or just try to forget it happened.

So, your definition of trek nerd is basically an intelligent/fun, unique, and thoughtful individual? I find your definition very interesting. Live long and prosper.

ORLYNAO?
If that's the case, then - and without googling...where was the USS Enterprise-D constructed?

Most Trekkies I have meet fit that definition.
But I consider myself a Trek nerd because I have a TNG uniform hanging up in my wardrobe (medical blue, of course), along with a ToS phaser pistol and tricorder.
And only recently did I throw away my Klingon dictionary.
