Research "Flat Earth"

RE: Research "Flat Earth"
When there's an eclipse and you can see the shadow of the earth on the moon's surface, that is a clever trick NASA plays on us, involving mirrors and a really strong light.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Well it's not so different then when you get in conversation with religious people here on this forum and they start to explain you "science" and how it intertwines with god.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

I once dropped a marble. It didn't roll. If the Earth were a sphere, it should have rolled forever, right?

Then there was this recent... thing:

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Guess they have a really great excuse for those air planes that fly around the world. Not that I'm interested in that level of crazy, but hey. Whatever makes em happy I guess.

"Flat Earth" is not a joke. There are thousands of Americans who are seriously digging their heels in about this.

If the earth was flat there would be sight seeing tours to the edge. Maybe bungee jumping off the edge.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Those Americans, along with tens of millions of others, are jokes.
